Hi all   i have attended some interviews and i would like to share the experiences.   but before that i have a request. all the contests u conduct are helping all the members very much. but in an interview, the written test consists of both aptitude and technical. so i would request u to start a technical questions  contest also covering the core subjects like C, C++, Java, Database etc. and moreover i want u to please explain all the answers in aptitude, reasoning and puzzles contest coz sometimes the answers don't match with mine and i don't find out why.   now dear friends, i would like to share my interview experience.   1. i have attended a no of interviews. mainly they were organized by our college. here in Calcutta we don't have much walk-ins.   2.for almost all the interviews we were informed 2/3 days before. so its very essential that u should always be prepared so that u may attend the interview anytime u r called for. anyway, i prepared reasoning and numerical aptitude from RS AGARWAL and from different company's question papers and also from sample papers available online. for those u may refer to sureshkumar.net   and for the technical portion i prepared mainly C from kanetkar, Gottfried, data structure, C++ from kanetkar, database from korth, date, bayross and java from shields and OS from galvin.   3.most of the interviews consisted of 4 rounds, written, GD, technical interview, HR round.   written paper usually consists of apti and technical questions. technical questions mainly include pointers and some Object oriented questions. some companies like accenture also have a database paper.   in GD round i faced topics like "egg came first or the hen"," women are better managers",   in the technical interview round u r asked questions mainly from ur final yr project and some basic questions from C,C++,java and database. sometimes they r so basic that u hv to think a lot before answering. as i was asked "in this room your interview is going on. u identify the class, data members and member functions here"   in the HR round there are some typical questions like   a) tell me something about yourself   b) Your hobbies   c) Where do u want to see your self 5 yrs from now    d) Are you ok with working at night?   e) why should i hire u?   in almost all the interviews  i was thrown out in the written round. but for the last two interviews i was through to the HR round. hope next time i will make it.   4. for almost all organizations i will suggest to prepare aptitude thoroughly and basic concepts of all the core subjects. in the technical interview round u will be asked "which sub you are confident in?" be sure whichever subject u state u answer 90% of the questions perfectly.   5.mainly in the interviews i attended at the first stage, i was not very serious in the apti portion and also i was not thorough in pointers and mainly pointers are covered in the technical portion. in some later interviews, i was very nervous in the technical round and may be it was my lack of confidence i could not answer some very easy questions and ended up with fumbling.   6.in these days i m working on aptitude everyday. and also i m regular in touch of all the subjects.   Posted By: chayanika Date Posted: 07 March 2006 at 12:55am
