no, there is no need to do so because hockey is our own game
and it is not as rich as cricket because media does not give inmortance to it.media only focus on the game which gives money unlimited.

Hockey shuold be our national Game but for enrichment of this game government should take some steps and movies like Chakde will booost up the moral of those who are willing to make their career in hockey

Actually the problem is not with motivating the players of the Indian Hockey Team, the thing is to creates the interest among the Indians.
We are the people who can make the Hockey as interested as Cricket just not by watching but also by playing it.
So, its upto Indian People whether they want to be Hockey as their National Game or not.

I dont see any reasons why india has to change the national game..is it only because cricketers are much famous or is it because crickat gains more public attention..we have chosen hockey as our national game not on the grounds of popularity,it was because India was among those nations who gained most number of medals for hockey in olympics.india won six consecutive gold medals in olympics and won all the 24 matches played in olympics.if hockey is not given recognition it dont mean that hockey dont have importance..even if it is not given that fame in india but it is famous in other countries.

well i think its time we changed our national game because hockey has lost its love importance in peoples heart.it is on longer taken seriouly.i belive we must change the national game according to the time and popularity.we had done this before(hockey replaced some other game)and i see no harm doing it again.

hockey should b given itz due importance as it desrves.
v r da ones givin fame only 2 cricket n 2 other sportz.

its not the fault of media nor the gov. rather it is just the lake of love and
priority to the hockey.if we ll motivate to the hockey then eventualy
star cricket channell will go to hell,there is no doubt about that.
we should not think abt the change of national sports,we want to just kept focus on

It depends upon person to person whether to like any particular game or not...but the force behind this is Media.. because Media is the only source thru which a sport gets its popularity in these days..So I beleive, to get the popularity of Hockey back, then this can be done only thru media and also this can happen if there are good sponsors for these games.

Hello i don't think that it is the media who is making any game popular...my dear frnd's just think media work is to give knowledge to the people and to appreciate when a team performs gud in any tournament whether it's a cricket team or hockey team...definately they ( media) will speak 100 times if indian cricket team would have won final match of compaq cup......sam on the other hand if indian hockey team fails to perform than how u people can accept that media will appreciate..... and i m cent percent sure and confident that if indian hockey team will perform gud... they will have everthing what indian cricket hav.,.... so think....

A national game should be that game which is cotemporary most popular among common masses......
media,alone,can't be blamed for present condition of hockey......!!!
rigid sports authorities, lack of commitment in sponsers, and dysfunctioning of hockey associations ......are the root causes that have ruined hockey..........
it is the right time to change our national game............
however,steps should be taken to improve present miserable condtion of hockey......

Considering the beautiful discussions put forward by all the people the situation seems really grim. Team Sport is watched mostly for the excitement it provides. Secondly, it is the medium through which this excitement reaches the people. The excitement levels in the sport can be reached through committed efforts at the grass root level to evoke interest among people and train the athletes to world standards. The second phase is to market the games just like the Modi's. Removing it from the national game status eliminates even the minute interest present in the revival of the game back to its height. Since it is the weakest that always need help hockey needs to be continued as our national game given the success our country achieved much before Indians made to the world arena through cricket.

I very much agree with the prashant mathur, he said right thing about the media. All needed is money. Actually indian people like cricket to watch. Its not about the national game its all about entertainment.

we need not to change our national games coz cricket is more entertaining ,is it right to change ur wife only bcoz another girl u met is more entertaining . so understand ur responsibilitiesand promote the game, respect ur current national game and dont run away from ur responsibilities.
