lemme add to it.whenever ther is a crash in the stock mkt, smart investors buy out the shares and dont sell, similarly recession time is the time to invest. On the surface situations may be tense but below it lie he oportunities which are grabbed by shrewd ones.

i think business requires combination of innovation, hard work hours and luck. During recesion, its a right opprtinity to get estalished.. as ppl are looking somthin new in order to save or manage. eg. souther airways started thier business during economic crisis only. what they did is avoid competiton by selling tickets at very low rate 60-70 % off flights.
our leading software firm microsoft also stared during recision in late 70's, charsmatic leader, hard work and luck was factors for succes.
so i think recesion or no recession, both have adv and disadv it is shear combination of luck, hard work and invvotaion helps for good business.

well said dude but in addition to this i would like to add one more point, that is-when a person wants to establish a business,he requires manpower as well as material.
And it is obvious that at the recession time he will get manpower at cheaper rate but the material and other requirements are not so easy because of downfall economy,so it also presents difficulty for them.

Starting a business is totally depends upon owner and LUCK factor is also needed for the primary level to settle down on the business. If somebody has an enthusiasm and if he/she be more efficient than others, then it will be quit easy to start the business in the economic crisis time, though he/she has to face some problem at the primary level.

there is no perfect time for a business to start... everytime is the right time but it is right that you have find your favourable time to play and create a place for your business... if your waiting for the recession time to start your business as you get cheap labour and other things in cheap rate you create some more competitors by your side... its obviously some luck factor is to be there to create the image of your business..

i think recession is the right time to start your own business, because it is the time when all big giants are facing the heat and they are in the need to come back instead of competition. So availability of resources at a low price and low competition gives more focus on establishment.
